6/9/15 - Thought for the day... "Witnessing"

Isaiah 49:6 says, "It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth."

What do others see when they look at your life? Do they see a man/woman whose life and heart have been transformed? Do they see someone whose actions reflect what's most important in their life? Do they see a person who demonstrates the amazing love of Jesus to friends and enemies alike? Do they see a man/woman who can be trusted to give Godly advice when they need it? Do they see a light of God's salvation in a dark world?

This is a lot to ask of any person, but God asks it. You see, sometimes we are doing what we think God wants us to do, but He says I want you to do more. What can you do to be a light of His love in this world?

I have been doing these posts in our group, for some time now and working on my online ministry, as best as I could. Not only with written posts, but videos. During this time, I have also been led to help within the community. So, I have been helping by singing at wakes and funerals, when I can. But God has been telling me that it's not enough. He wants me to also be more active in our community, so I have approached the ministers at Church of the Messiah, here in Opaskwayak, Manitoba and told them that I have been led to do more for our community and church. Since I have my ordination certificate, they have welcomed me to participate within the church and become more active, in a ministers capacity. Once I become more comfortable within this role, I have been asked to even do the Sunday sermon, once a month. It is truly an honor and privilege to accept this new role and help the community. I have such a strong desire to follow God and help bring others to know God and Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. I thank God for this opportunity and will do my best not to fail Him. I will, however, continue to post in our group, as I can and welcome each one of you to become active members within our group.

Are you following God's lead, in your life? Are you witnessing to other's any chance you get? Are you being the light to the world for others to follow? Pray and ask God to not only guide you, but to give you the wisdom to see His guidance and put into action.

God Bless you all ~ Pastor Bill

6/17/15 - Thought for the day... "Accountability"

Galatians 6:4-5 says, "Each of you should test your own actions. Then you can take pride in yourself, without comparing yourself to somebody else, for each of you should carry your own load."

Some people suggest that one of the keys to getting ahead in life is finding the right one to blame for their own mistakes. Maybe you've seen that principle in action at your workplace or elsewhere. Maybe you have even played "place the blame" from time to time. In reality, I think we all have done this, if we are truly honest with ourselves.

If that's the case, learn to accept your mistakes and failures with honesty, grace and humility. You will be doing yourself a favor and following God's plan for you. The apostle Paul makes it clear that placing blame or "scapegoats" are nonexistent in God's plan for our lives. By admitting our mistakes, we grow both physically, as a human being and spiritually. See, God allows us to have mistakes and failures so we can grow. Amen? Both success and failure in carrying out God's Will rests solely on you and there's no fooling God.

7/12/15 - Thought for the day... "Purity"

The dictionary defines "Purity" as: the condition or quality of being pure; freedom from anything that debases, contaminates, pollutes, etc.

When it comes to living a "pure" life, we tend to let ourselves off the hook too easily. Yes, we are all sinners but through our Savior, Jesus Christ and God's grace, He is willing to forgive us, if we ask from our hearts. That being said, we compare ourselves with others (friends, family, acquaintances). We tend to point to them and say, "At least I'm not as bad as they are." or "Look what they are doing." This seems to make us feel better about our own purity level. But that's not the standard God sets for us.

Psalm 119:9 tells us, "How can those who are young keep their way pure? By living according to your Word."

The psalmist directs us to God's Word for instructions on how to keep our ways pure. I have heard many times that we are sinners and that we can not be pure. According to this scripture, even though we are sinners, we can live a pure life, by following God's Word. And if God's Word teaches us anything, it is that each one of us is accountable for the way we live, not for the way we measure up against others.
